STOP International Project
In the past STOP International has undertaken capital building projects to support the work of local charitable organisations in providing for orphaned and abandoned children. We have successfully assisted four organisations benefiting over 150 children directly.
STOP has ambitious plans and has already embarked on a project that will not only meet the physical needs of vulnerable children but will also help meet their educational, vocational and social needs in a self-sustaining way that reduces the future reliance on external donations and will instil a sense of pride and ownership in the children.
Our vision is to establish a plot of land that will accommodate an orchard, pasture for a dairy herd, polythene tunnels to support floriculture, workshops for woodwork, metalwork and sewing, and orphanages.
We have already purchased 6 acres of land in Tamil Nadu, India and presented plans for the phases for the project that will be subject to funding. We have identified and engaged a builder who will begin the work on:
- Phase I – secure the land with a boundary fence and gate, sink bore wells, build accommodation for a caretaker, build orphanage, build workshops,
- Phase II – buy dairy herd, erect tunnels for floriculture, plant the orchard
- Phase III –, build Internet café, recruit staff
All of this takes money. We have been successfully raising funds that will purchase and register the land, secure the boundary, sink a bore well and build a guardhouse. The estimates for completing phase I and for phases II and III as well as ongoing running costs are:
50 sponsors each giving £20 per month with Gift Aid will satisfy the annual costs
400 sponsors each giving £500 with Gift Aid will meet the capital costs
We are also seeking sponsors for land, dividing it into half acre plots. If you would like to sponsor land please click here.
We have a three year plan to complete the work and make the Children’s Village largely self funding through selling milk, fruit, flowers and the output from the various workshops.
