2003 Projects
The STOP International project for 2003 was to build three classrooms and a play area for the 46 children of the Prabhudas Charity Trust, in Kurgi, Jharkhand, India.
The Prabhudas Charity Trust was set up by Mr and Mrs Sundar Kujur, Mr P D Kujur and their brother Dan. It was named after their father. Kurgi is situated 30 km outside the city of Ranchi.
Mr and Mrs Kujur who run the orphanage and a school for 46 children requested STOP International for help following STOP International’s previous projects.
A local building contractor was employed to carry out the work. Eight STOP volunteers went to the orphanage, stayed with the children and helped mix concrete, lay bricks and set up the play area for the children with a see-saw, a slide and swings.
Previously the children studied either on the verandah or their dormitory rooms. They now enjoy the comfort of studying in their custom made classrooms with desks and chairs.
